Numbers on adverts are to become a permit condition

In the same paper of 22 August 2025, Defra said that once registrations are replaced by environmental permits it will be a permit condition that permit numbers are displayed on advertising, so that the Environment Agency can carry out desk-based compliance work and identify businesses showing incorrect or fraudulent numbers. Numbers are also to be readily accessible to a regulator or local authority when a vehicle is inspected.
