Two ignored £100 notices became a £1,130 court bill

Barking and Dagenham Council reported in March 2026 that a skip hire company was found guilty in its absence at Barkingside Magistrates Court on 3 March 2026 of depositing a skip on the public highway without permission. Enforcement officers found the skip on a Barking street on 16 July 2025 and again on 18 July 2025, and served two £100 fixed penalty notices, each reducible to £50 within 14 days. Neither was paid. The court imposed a £350 fine, £500 costs and a £280 surcharge.
