Plastic film joins the plastic stream in 2027
Schedule 1 to the Separation of Waste (England) Regulations 2024 prescribes what counts as recyclable waste in each stream. Paragraph 4(1)(e) of Part 4 adds polyolefin plastic film packaging and plastic bags containing at least 90% by weight of mono-polyethylene, mono-polypropylene or both. Regulation 1(5) provides that this paragraph comes into force on 31 March 2027, later than the rest of the Schedule.
