The Environment Agency's register does not hold contact details for anybody, so we have none to publish. If this is your firm, you can add them.

Is this your firm?

Your name is not on this page. We publish the trading name only, never the personal name, the street address or the full postcode. Less about you than the Environment Agency publishes.

The register holds no way to reach you. Add one, and correct anything above. Neither costs anything.

The Act says scrap metal is not paid for in cash

Section 12(1) of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 says a scrap metal dealer “must not pay for scrap metal except” by a cheque that is not transferable under section 81A of the Bills of Exchange Act 1882, or by an electronic transfer of funds. Section 12(3) says paying includes paying in kind, and section 12(6) sets a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale on summary conviction.

legislation.gov.uk, Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, section 12: offence of paying for scrap metal in cash. Read 2026-09-04. Who is allowed to take your things away explains this in full.

What the register settles, and what to ask the firm

We publish the register. Here is where it stops.

It does tell you

  • That the business is registered to transport waste
  • Which tier the registration sits in
  • When the registration expires

It does not tell you

  • That the work will be done well
  • Anything about complaints, insurance or disputes
  • That anyone has inspected their vehicles or staff
