Several £600 penalties in one district in one summer

Cotswold District Council reported on 4 August 2025 that £600 fixed penalty notices had recently been issued to several householders in the district who failed to ensure their waste was disposed of responsibly. In each case, the council said, fly-tipped waste was traced back to a resident who had handed it to a contractor without checking the contractor's waste carrier registration. It said such offers typically arrive through social media or door to door.
