Environment Agency guidance says waste upholstered domestic seating containing persistent organic pollutants must not be mixed with other waste during production, storage, collection or treatment, including in skips and containers, and must be incinerated at a plant authorised to accept it. The same guidance says landfill operators must not accept it. It covers sofas, sofa beds, armchairs, recliner chairs, kitchen and dining chairs, stools, futons, bean bags, floor and sofa cushions.
