The older separate collection duty has been removed

Until 31 March 2025, regulation 13(2) of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 required an establishment or undertaking collecting waste paper, metal, plastic or glass to do so by separate collection. Regulation 5(a)(i) of the Separation of Waste (England) Regulations 2024 omitted that paragraph for England on that date, and regulation 5(a)(ii) omitted the remaining paragraphs of regulation 13 on 31 March 2026. The workplace duty now sits in the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
