Part 8 ceases to have effect for England at the end of 21 July 2027
A statutory instrument made on 22 July 2026, SI 2026/873, provides at regulation 26 that "Part 8 of the Waste Regulations 2011 (registration of carriers, brokers and dealers) ceases to have effect in relation to England". Regulation 1(2) commences that at the end of the period of 12 months beginning with the day the Regulations were made, which is the end of 21 July 2027. Until then the requirement is in force, and Environment Agency guidance still says a business that transports, buys, sells or disposes of waste, or arranges for someone else to, must register.
