What the written description has to say about the waste
Regulation 35(2)(a) of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 sets the detail a transfer of controlled waste must carry. The written information must identify the waste by the appropriate codes in the List of Wastes, give a description of it, and state its quantity, whether it is loose or in a container, the kind of container if it is in one, the time and place of transfer, and the SIC code of the transferor.
legislation.gov.uk, The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, regulation 35 (waste information). Read 2026-09-04. What a waste transfer note is, and why you keep it explains this in full.
What the register settles, and what to ask the firm
We publish the register. Here is where it stops.
It does tell you
- That the business is registered to transport waste
- Which tier the registration sits in
- When the registration expires
It does not tell you
- That the work will be done well
- Anything about complaints, insurance or disputes
- That anyone has inspected their vehicles or staff
