Asbestos and the Health and Safety Executive licence
The Health and Safety Executive licenses higher-risk work with asbestos and says most of that work must only be done by a licensed contractor. It states that 'it is an offence to carry out licensable work with asbestos without a licence and you could be prosecuted'. Its examples include removing sprayed coatings, work which may disturb pipe lagging, work on asbestos millboard, and work on asbestos insulating board where the risk assessment indicates it will not be of short duration.
